Jimmy Rostlund Interview:
Where do you live?
Stockholm, Sweden
Describe yourself in max. 10 words:
Calm, happy, stubborn, restless, playful, technically/mechanically inclined, helpful, perfectionist (in some areas)
Name some of the things you do during the day, besides bikeriding:
Drive to work, work and spend the day thinking of stuff to make my bike better, go home and
sit at the computer and draw some of the stuff I come up with, do some work for my side-project Eject (bikeparts),
Hang out with friends, watch movies or bmx videos.
Name 3 (or more) good things about bikeriding:
Friends, good times, creative and aggressive outlet.
What's your favorite thing to ride?
Ramps, trails, street
If you could change one thing, what would it be?
I'd like to not have to sleep for more than 2-3 hours a night. That would be nice, so I'd have time for all the things I like to do.
Where is the best place you have travelled to?
All places have their bright spots (yeah, I'm diplomatic). But I guess my favorites tend to be where I
traveled to most recently. So right now it's Japan.
Dublin was nice too, too bad it was only for a weekend and without my bike.
Where would you like to travel to?
Machu Picchu (or Machupijchu) in Peru is my dream right now, and New Zealand, and Australia, and...
If you could be a superhero, who would you be?
Don't know. The Hulk maybe?
Favorite food?
As long as I don't have to cook it...
Favorite drink?
Flavoured water, beer, milk
Which music are you listening to at the moment?
A lot of metal, rock, psychobilly and some electro. Just a big mix really.
Whats more important to you, contests or videoparts?
Videoparts. Haven't been in many, but it's a better way to get to know a rider's style I think. Contests can be fun too sometimes, when you don't stress out.
What inspires you?
I don't really know... I haven't pinned that down yet, there are so many different things. But generally being with good friends and playing around makes me happy, so I guess that's some form of inspiration.
Has there been any situations, things or people that has changed your life significantly?
When I was younger I was very temperamental and had a bunch of problems because of that,
so at some point when I was about 13-15 years old. I somehow subconciously decided that this is no good. I've been pretty calm and levelheaded since. But sometimes (unfortunately) that temper gets the best of me. Not very surprising is that BMX changed my life for the better in a lot of ways.
What would your ideal day be like?
Wake up, eat breakfast, do some work at the computer (and not be distracted by stuff on the internet, or people on msn), find out that the latest product I have designed or helped design is being shipped here, go ride with friends and have a good session and not crash, eat good food while watching bmxvideos and drinking a few beers with my friends.
Most important item to bring on trips?
My bike, iPod, camera
What's the best thing about being home?
The things and people you know the best are there.
